Javascript

Are you using a browser that doesn't support Javascript, or do you have Javascript disabled?

If the juggler is juggling then Javascript is running OK.

Your browser must support Javascript, and this option must be enabled before you can submit a survey or ballot.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for the majority of browsers. By the way, Java and JavaScript are two different things, so make sure that you're looking at the correct language.

To enable Javascript

Internet Explorer 4.x

  • Go to "View | Internet Options..." from the main menu
  • Change to the "Security" tab
  • Select "Custom" and click on the "Settings..." button
  • To enable: make sure "Enable" is selected under "Active scripting"
  • Restart the browser

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x

  • Go to "Tools | Internet Options..." from the main menu
  • Change to the "Security" tab
  • Select "Internet" web zone by clicking the "Internet" icon
  • Click the "Custom Level..." button
  • Scroll to the "Scripting" section
  • To enable: make sure "Enable" is selected under "Active scripting"

  • Select "Advanced" panel
  • To enable: make sure "Enable JavaScript" check box is checked
  • Restart the browser

Netscape 6.x

  • Go to "Edit | Preferences..." from the main menu
  • Select the "Advanced" category

  • Click the "OK" button
  • Restart the browser
Opera 5
  • Go to "File | Preferences..." from the main menu
  • Select "Plugins"
  • To enable make sure "Enable JavaScript" check box is checked
  • Restart the browser

Other browsers

To see if your browser supports Javascript and for detailed instructions about how to enable this feature, see the online Help for your browser.

Simply reloading the page, rather than restarting the browser, may be sufficient under some browser versions.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

Are you using a browser that doesn't support secure connections (SSL), or do you have SSL disabled?

If our client has requested that you complete their ballot or survey using an industry standard secure connection (often called SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer), then this option must be enabled in your browser before you can authenticate yourself.

To enable secure connections

Internet Explorer 4.x/5.x/6.x

  • Go to "View | Internet Options..." from the main menu
  • Change to the "Advanced" tab
  • Scroll to the "Security" section
  • Select all of the "Use SSL" check boxes
  • Restart the browser

Netscape Communicator 4.x

  • Go to "Communicator | Tools | Security Info..." from the main menu
  • Select the "Navigator" category
  • Select all of the "Enable SSL" check boxes
  • Click the "OK" button

Netscape 6.x/7.x

  • Go to "Tasks | Privacy and Security..." from the main menu
  • Click the "Security Manager" button
  • Change to the "Advanced" tab
  • Select the "Options" category
  • Select all of the "Enable SSL" check boxes
  • Click the "OK" button
  • Restart the browser

Other browsers

To see if your browser supports secure connections and for detailed instructions about how to enable this feature, see the online Help for your browser.

If you see a message to notify you that you are entering or leaving a secure connection when you try to sign in, you should choose to continue or you will not be able to sign in.

If you are behind a firewall or proxy that does not support secure connections (for example, if you are accessing the Internet from a computer that is part of a corporate network), speak with your local system administrator to see if a solution can be reached using your network. Note that not all firewalls or proxies cause errors.

For more information, see Secure connections (SSL).
